One of the biggest benefits of managing your time is you have a plan of how to use your time more effectively. I have spent years experimenting with different times of time management strategies and I believe that the bullet journal system has been the most effective at assisting me in completing my goals. The proper way to organize a bullet journal can be found on the official bullet journal website and you can grab a grid paper journal in just about any retail store or choose from a selection of high-quality journals on Amazon.
Here are the tips of why you should start a bullet journal in 2019 as said by the staff at seedsuccessfulyou.com!
1. You Can Manage Your Time Better
We all lead busy lives. Unless you have a system in place to manage your time, you will end up waisting your time on unnecessary things. Organization is very important because it can help you become more productive and feel accomplished.
Take some time every morning to write down your tasks for the day. I do this in my weekly spread. I write the tasks and I highlight the ones that are priority so I can tackle the most important things right away. I also like to put the exact time I need to finish something. For example, breakfast from 8:15 am–8:45 am, blog post from 8:45 am–10:30 am and so on.
2. Improve Your Productivity
Have you ever felt like you didn’t accomplish anything in a day? Before I started managing my time with BuJo, I was a terrible procrastinator. I either didn’t want to do something, or I was trying to do too many things at the same time. This, of course, left me feeling like I didn’t really do anything.
If you actively keep track of your daily tasks, goals and deadlines, your productivity will increase. Magically, you are able to accomplish more things in a day. We underestimate the power of organizing our thoughts on paper. So keep track of your daily tasks and do the most important ones first.
3. Keep Track of Your Goals
Every successful person talks about the importance of setting goals. Writing down your goals in your Bullet Journal will help you keep track of them and take necessary action.
I would also add the importance of visualization. Look at your goals every day, visualize how you will get there, or even better yet, visualize yourself accomplishing your goals. What better way than writing your goals in your BuJo. You can even add some stickers or doodles on your Goals Spread.
4. Never Miss A Deadline
Create a table in your Bullet Journal and add your tasks and important deadlines. Carry your BuJo with you and check them off once you complete them.
When you look back at your BuJo Deadline Spread, it will give you a great sense of accomplishment and you will feel proud of yourself.
Prioritze Your Life
One thing I would suggest is highlighting your most important tasks in your Bullet Journal, or simply write them on the top of the page. Our brain is programmed to look at the highlighted tasks first. For example, use a bright yellow or orange.
Make sure you prioritize your most important tasks. Don’t worry about accomplishing all your tasks as long as you do the most important ones.
6. Keep Track of Appointments
Most people use some kind of phone app to keep track of their appointments. Maybe you don’t like technology. What if you are a person who writes down your appointments on a sticky note?
I am not a fan of phone apps so I was one of those people who wrote their doctor appointments on a piece of paper. Now I write them in my Bullet Journal. It allows me to keep all my appointments in one place. The best place to write them is on your Monthly Log so you’ll always know where to find them.
7. Keep Track of Important Dates
This one is similar to #6 above. If you are like me, you probably can’t remember all the important dates. Make a Birthday Spread to keep track of family and friends birthdays.
There are so many creative ways to make a birthday spread. Think balloons, banners and candles. You can incorporate some really fun art into your birthday spread.
10. Plan Your Daily Meals
Did you ever forget to buy milk and had to go back to the store? It happened to me so many times. I always end up forgetting something. That’s why you should create a Grocery List in your BuJo for your weekly groceries.
You carry your BuJo with you in your purse and you will never forget to buy something. It can also help you plan your meals for the week. Write all the ingredients that you will need and take it with you.
11. Expand Your Creative Vision
If you like minimalism, you can keep your journal simple. But if you really want to take it to the next level, incorporate some doodles, decorative stickers, or just add some colors in it.
If you always wanted to draw, this could be a great opportunity to practice your drawing skills. Maybe you think you are not creative. I believe that everyone is born creative. Just try, you could be surprised.
12. Find Information Easily
Since you are keeping all your lists, tasks, appointments and deadlines in one notebook, it’s very easy to find the information that you are looking for. The great thing about Bullet Journal is that all your information is stored in one place.
You can easily find any information you are searching for by referring to your journal index.
13. Organize Your Thoughts
Grab a pen and your journal and get all your thoughts out of your brain. Brain Dump is a really cool bullet journal spread that can help you organize your thoughts or just relieve some stress.
It’s exactly what it sounds like. You dump your thoughts on a piece of paper. You can do it daily, weekly or monthly. I do it once a month just to lay out all my thoughts and feelings. I feel great afterwards.
15. Take A Break from Technology
Do you ever get tired of all the digital devices we are using every day? We live in a digital age. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great. Technology has improved our lives tremendously, but sometimes we just want to dwell in nature, use our hand and pencil to write, or color like when we were children.
Bullet journaling is a great way to take a break from technology and do some old fashioned planning and organizing, while you practice your lettering, drawing and coloring. So grab your BuJo and some colored pens and rediscover your childhood talents.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could open a notebook and see all the progress you made in a year? A bullet journal is an awesome way to reflect on the past year.
If you keep a BuJo to organize and plan your life, at the end of the year, just open your journal and smile at everything you created. Maybe your writing improved, you accomplished some important goals, celebrated big anniversaries, or you learned how to draw. Bullet Journal can also help you create awareness and make necessary changes to improve your life.
18. Track Your Memories & Travel
On your next vacation to take your Bullet Journal and create some cool travel spreads.
We all like to collect memories and a Bullet Journal is a perfect place to track your travels. Cherish the memories from your travels or important life events.
20. Stay Motivated Daily
Lastly, your Bullet Journal can you help you stay motivated. It’s easy to carry it around, you can take it anywhere. It gives you a purpose to stay organized and to plan your days.
